Timing of the project

Specific objectives of the project

The WIMB project directly addresses HE priorities and labour market needs in RS, BA and ME, by improvement of teachers' skills, methodologies and offer of modern vocational courses in highly novel areas of research. PC partners have knowledge in some aspects of nanotechnologies and advanced materials research, innovation and education and project network will enable them to cover all major aspects. It will further enable adequate transfer of knowledge from university to diverse target groups.

Training courses (for institutional building) To develop a common understanding between various actors of research, education and innovation (university, research centers, spin-off companies) in Nanotechnologies and Advanced materials for:
  1. Medical applications,
  2. Industrial engineering.

Summary of the project

The WIMB project will enhance capacities of HE institutions in WBC region, by developing sustainable interrelations between Education, Research and Innovation in Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials, for applications in medical and industrial engineering. The project will develop a common understanding between various actors of research and innovation (university, research centers, spin-off companies) in WBC and EU, in highly novel research areas, where specific methodologies for innovation transfer are of the utmost importance for voluntary convergence with EU developments in accordance with Europe 2020 strategy and Smart growth flagship initiative as a new engine to boost growth and jobs. This will improve transfer of innovation from University to regional enterprises, enhancing their innovation potential.

The project will identify current state of education, research and innovation in PC countries in nanotechnologies and advanced materials, determine key barriers to progress and means to overcome it. Teachers, researchers and students in 3 WBC countries will improve their knowledge and skills on: innovation transfer; creation of research start-up companies and relations between the real market demands and education and research in novel areas. University facilities for education in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro will be equipped. The platform, comprising protocols and methodologies, will be developed to support strong links of research with education and innovation and to accelerate new product development to industry and clinic. Project partners will jointly prepare manuals and develop 8 vocational training courses to address the market needs in nanotechnology and advanced materials innovation transfer, aimed for PC university students and non-university teachers, enterprises and SMEs. It will raise awareness of WBC enterprises and educational institutions on importance of transfer of academic research results into the real market products.
